Mrs. Iva Dell McDaniel, 103-year-old Chillicothe resident who, despite her age, lived at home and worked every Thursday in the craft sales department of the Livingston County Senior Citizens Center at 440 Locust Street, died at 12 noon Wednesday at Hedrick Medical Center.
Mrs. McDaniel was preparing to leave for her volunteer work at the Senior Center recently when she fell at her home and fractured a hip.
She was born September 7, 1878, in Vinton County, Ohio, daughter of Jacob Appleman and Lydia Kline Appleman. She came to Missouri at an early age and became a member of the Leeton Christian Church in Johnson County in the early 1930s. She and her husband farmed in Henry County for many years, moving to Chillicothe in 1968. She was a member of Autumn Leaves Club and RSVP.
Her survivors are a son, William Rasmussen, Chillicothe; a daughter-in-law; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Erastus Smith, William Rasmussen and Jesse McDaniel. Jesse died in 1965. Also preceding her in death was a son Russell Lee Smith, in 1961, a twin sister, Mrs. Ica Cramer, and another sister, Mrs. Florence Shively.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel of the Gordon Home for Funerals with the Rev. Walter Bingham officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery at Hamilton. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service and will not be reopened.
The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 this evening at the funeral home. They suggest memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston County Multi-Purpose Senior Citizens Center.
