UNTIMELY DEATH – Young Mother’s Life Goes Out with the Ushering in of Her Daughter’s.
Much surprise and sorrow were felt Tuesday morning when it was learned that Mrs. Clara Axt Shetterly had died the night previous leaving an infant daughter but a few hours old. She was the youngest daughter of the late Christian Axt, and was married last July to George Shetterly. The first few months of their wedded life were spent at Wabash, when they returned to Franklin, fitting up a comfortable home on Kentucky street near Yandes.
Deceased was born in this city October 29, 1876. She was a young lady of amiable disposition, refined manners and was popular with all her associates and acquaintances. The stricken family has the sincere sympathy of the community in the great bereavement they have been called upon, under Providence, to bear.
The funeral services were held yesterday evening at 3 o’clock from the residence, conducted by Rev. L. P. Marshall, pastor of the Presbyterian church, of which deceased was a member. The floral tributes were many, an especially beautiful design being that from the young ladies’ social club of which Mrs. Shetterly had been a member since its organization. Interment in Greenlawn.

A Sad Death – The death of Mrs. George Shetterly occurred last Monday morning at 3:00. For several days she had been suffering with a severe case of enlargement of the glands of the throat and this with her weak condition, the result of childbirth, was the cause of her death. She was the daughter of Mrs. Eliza Axt and was born October 29, 1876. She had spent her entire life here and was married to George Shetterly July 24, 1901. The future seemed bright for success and happiness to the young couple and death’s presence at this time seems doubly hard to bear.
Mrs. Shetterly was a member of the Presbyterian church and had a host of friends. She had a kindly and loving disposition and was loved by all who knew her.
The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 3:00 from the late home on Yandes street, Rev. L. P. Marshall conducting the services. Burial at Greenlawn.
