Edwin St John Kingsley’s father:
Edwin St John Kingsley’s father was Thomas Kingsley (linked below). Thomas had three wives. Firstly, Charlotte Isabella Stewart whose marriage was conducted on 4 December 1851 in St. Stephen's, Kidderpore, Calcutta, West Bengal. By her, he had James Stewart Kingsley (1853-1860). His second wife was Emma Grace Norris. They married 14 May 1857 in St. Paul's Cathedral, Calcutta. By her, he had Mona Margaret Kingsley (1858-1896) and Gerald Norris Kingsley (1864-1951). [Not in FindAGrave]. His third wife was Mary Albertina Wells, whom he married 14 December 1876 in Calcutta. She bore him Frederick Thomas Kingsley (1877-1945) [Not in FindAGrave] and Edwin St. John Kingsley (1879-1938).

Thomas Kingsley’s father:
Research suggests that Thomas Kingsley’s father was a Sergeant James Kingsley of His Majesty’s 44th Regiment. James may have been a member of the 44th (East Essex) Regiment of Foot which embarked for India in 1822 and was deployed to Burma for service in the First Anglo-Burmese War in early 1825. It formed part of an army which advanced up the River Irrawaddy to the Kingdom of Ava and then, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel John Shelton, captured the city of Arakan in March 1825. After suffering many casualties from fever, the regiment was withdrawn and returned to India in 1826.

James seems to have married twice.

James first marriage (wife's name not known) produced a son, Henry Louther Kingsley born about 1819 at a place known as Barn Rosario, Kings or Bara Kings. Henry Louther Kingsley married Ellen Byrne on 12 December 1849 in Deesa, Bombay, India. Ellen was born about 1832 and her father’s name was James Byrne. Henry enlisted in 1843 holding positions as Sergeant and Major in a Royal Regiment of Mounted Artillery and was discharged in 1862.
James Kingsley SECONDLY married widow Margaret TEARNEY on 6 April 1826 in Ghazipur, India. Their known children are:
William Kingsley born 1 October 1828 in Ghazipur and baptised 5 October 1828 in Ghazipur.
Thomas Kingsley was born 1 January 1831 in Cawnpore, Bengal, India and died on 23 March 1899 in Golaghat, Assam, India, and was buried there (FAG Memorial 197380883).

Henry Lother Kingsley was born 13 August 1832 in Cawnpore and baptised 26 August 1832 in Cawnpore; he died and was buried 8 September 1833.
A daughter, Margaret Kingsley was born in 1834 but died at the age of 1 year and seven months and was buried 8 October 1835 in Calcutta (FAG Memorial 212730214).
