Katherine Read Myers Edwards, 94, passed from this life Sunday, January 5, 2020, at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, Jackson.
Visitation will be 12:00-1:00pm, Saturday, January 11, 2020, at St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Madison, with funeral services beginning at 1:00pm at the church. A graveside service will follow at 3:00pm in the Old Brandon City Cemetery.
Katherine was born April 24, 1925, in Louin, MS, a daughter of the late Webb B. Read and Laura Katherine Gilbert Read. Pearl was her home for 28 years. After her first husband was killed in a car crash, she was alone for 18 years. She married her current husband, Raymond Lee Edwards in 2000. The have lived at Castlewoods Place Assisted Living since 2016.
Katherine enjoyed a 35-year career as an administrative assistant with the G. V. “Sonny” Montgomery V.A. Medical Center in Jackson, and was a longtime member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings; Ina Read Smith, Klein Read, Van Read, Louise Read, and her first husband, Julius H. Myers.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Lee Edwards, son, Hugh Myers (Betty), and daughter, Gayle McRae (Tommy) and her brother Dr. Dale G. Read (Geraldine). Grandchildren include Brian McRae (Susan), Misty McRae King (Michael), Amy McRae Henning (Jason), Jennifer Williams (Ben), Jodie Lutz (Bobby), and Julie Myers. Great grandchildren include Cooper McRae, Truitt McRae, Madison Clement, Kayla Clement, Wesley King, Hannah King, Gage Williams, and Nathan Williams.
