Charles J. Albrycht Jr.

Charles J. Albrycht, Jr., 93, of Newington, died peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Rose (Nevelos) Albrycht. Born in Southington, Charlie resided in Newington since 1955. He graduated from Bentley College with a degree in Accounting and retired from Stanley Tools after 49 years of employment. He was a proud World War II Veteran of the United States Navy, stationed in the Aleutian Islands. Charlie was a very active member of the Grace Episcopal Church, Newington, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, past president and treasurer of the Mr. and Mrs. Club, a member of the vestry, founder of the Pinkie Fund, and a church usher and greeter. He was active with Newington Little League and was a co-founder of the Newington Football Booster Club, as well as its past treasurer. Charlie was the first chairperson of the annual Stanley Tools Christmas Party, was the Stanley Tools Captain for March of Dimes fundraising for more than 37 years, where he helped to raise over $3 million. He was the financial secretary of the Stanley Seniors and vice president of the Stanley Seniors Charitable Foundation, as well as chairman of the Stanley Seniors Food Drive. He was a member of the Blue and Gold Society at Bentley College and a member of IMA (Institute of Management Accountants), Hartford Chapter, for 44 years with 100% attendance, where he served as director of the newsletter and advertising. Charlie always believed that the love and relationships that he had with his family and friends made him the richest person alive. Loving and devoted to his family, he leaves his four children. He was lovingly known as either "Sonny J." or "Pa" to his grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He also leaves his sister and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son Jeffrey L. Albrycht. We will forever remember his kind and generous nature, and the way his adorable smile would light up a room. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by his funeral service at 2:30 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, Newington.
