Carrie was born September 16, 1939, in Arcadia, La to Claudia Sanders. She was baptized at an early age at Jerusalem Quin Church in Calion, AR. She was called home Friday, January 3, 2020. She was united in marriage to Robert James Jr on November 24, 1971. To this union, they had 6 children. Bobby (Latorra) James, Michelle (Eric) Stanley, Gregory Payne, Larry James, Vincent James, and Janice Washington. She worked at the Medical Center of South Arkansas for 30 years, where she retired as a dietary aide. On her off time she loved to cook, fish, play dominos, and love on her grandbabies. She loved her family more than anything.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert James Jr, three brothers Curtis Unice, L.J. Gray, and John Gray, two sisters, Mary Jo Menser, and Massie Lee Jackson.
Her memories will be cherished by her son Bobby (Latorra) James, sisters Dorothy Mitchell, Debra Ann (O’Neal) Glover, and Barbara (George) Lowery. Brothers Leroy Russell and Timothy Hampton all of El Dorado, AR, Lewis T. Hampton Little Rock, AR. one sister in- law Gertha (Carl) Presley. Two special grandbabies Ryia and Ryin James. Along with a host of grand and great grands, nieces, nephews, and two favorite nephews Kwamane and Bubba.
Public Visitation will be Friday, January 10, 2020, from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., Funeral services will be Saturday, January 11, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at New Eastside Baptist Church, Internment will be at Rehobeth Cemetery under the direction of Sims Mortuary. Sign the guestbook at
