Clifton Jerrel Hale, Jr. 79, went to be with his Lord
and Savior at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012,
with his loving wife of 61 years, Joan, brother, Ronny Nall, and brother-in-law, Jack Johnson, by his side, in Fort Worth. He died after a brief illness.
Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Lakeside.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Senior Adult Ministry of First Baptist Church, Lakeside, 8801 Jacksboro Hwy., 76135. Clif was born January 13, 1933, in Bridgeport to Clifton and Mary Hale.
He grew up in Amarillo and Forth Worth. He graduated from North Side High School in 1951 and married his high school sweetheart, Joan Johnson, in 1951. He graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington where he received his B.S. degree in physics in 1963 and his master's in nuclear engineering in 1970, from the Catholic University of America.
Clif and Joan were active members of First Baptist Church, Lakeside where they taught Sunday School and worked with the senior adults. Clif had taught Sunday school for over 40 years and had served as an ordained deacon. He was a Distinguished Life member of the President's Club of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Cilf finished his notable career as a nuclear physicist with the Nuclear Commission in November 1969. He and Joan pursued their lifelong love of traveling in their RV and more recently on cruise ships throughout the world.
Clif was preceded in death by his son, Clifton "Jerry" Hale III. Survivors: wife, Joan; brothers, Ronny Nall and Jimmy Nall; sister, Linda Pack; mother-in-law, Beulah Johnson; brother-in-law, Jackie Ray Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
