The youngest child of Eugene Meyer and his wife. He had seven siblings in all. He was 28 years old in 1912 and had been married for 2½ years. He and his wife had a year-old daughter. Meyer was a graduate of Cornell University, where he took his degree as a Mechanical Engineer. His discovery of a method to measure the velocity of flame propagation in gasoline engines became a standard technique. After his graduation from college he joined his brother in business in Wall Street and became vice president of the Braden Copper Company of NYC. A resident of New York City, Mr Meyer boarded the Titanic at Cherbourg as a first class passenger together with his wife Leila Meyer. Meyer was described as having a gentle and pleasing personality as well as a manly, straightforward manner. Mr Meyer perished in the disaster.

Gravesite Details

confirmation was completed this week that proved his ashes were indeed placed in the Meyer Family Mausoleum in NY. This is very big news as the 109th anniversary of the sinking of the ship is on 4/15.
