Ernest L. “Ernie” Wilson

1942-2020

Ernest L. “Ernie” Wilson passed on to be with his Lord at the age of 77 years, 8 months on January 6, 2020. Ernie was born in Norfolk, VA on April 15, 1942 and moved to Oklahoma City at the age of 16. He was a resident of Edmond, OK before moving to Durant where he resided the past 5 years. He was a current member of the Durant Church of Christ and former member of Memorial Road Church of Christ.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Clyde & Mable Virginia Wilson, his sister Earlene and brother in law, Jerry Gore. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, 3 sons; Tony & wife Jenni, Timothy, James & wife Gina, two step-sons; Randal Holley & wife Lisa, Robert Holley & wife Chaundra. Ernie was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nephews; Tommy Gore & wife Carol, Danny Gore & wife Dana of OKC, and one cousin Sharon Jacobson of Virginia.

Ernie had always been in the field of sales and started with Gardner Hotel Supply and finished his career as a Long Term Care Specialist with Genworth Financial. He enjoyed doing pen & ink drawings. Ernie graduated from NW Classen and attended CSU.

Visitation will be at Matthews Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 8th with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Road Church of Christ with burial following at Rose Hill Burial Park.
