Hattie Wilkes and Walter Powell were married 04 Aug 1897 in Davidson County, TN

“Funeral services for Mrs. W. N. Powell, 82, of 302 Seminole Drive, will be held Monday at 4 p.m. DST from Laughlin-Service Chapel, with Charles Maples officiating.

Burial will follow in Merrimack Cemetery.

Mrs. Powell, a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, and a resident of Huntsville for 58 years, died here yesterday afternoon. Survivors include four sisters, , Mrs. E. D. Denton, and Mrs. T. H. Rhodes, both of Nashville, and Mrs. E. H. Hopper and Mrs. W. D. McCarroll, both of Midland, Texas; three brothers, Ira and Buford Wilks, both of Huntsville and Claude Wilks of Marion, Ind. And a number of nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Charles Crabtree, Vernon Marks, Vernon Yell, Nolan Wilks, John E Wilks, and Wallace Wilks.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Walker, Dr. L.B. Hewitt, Sam Rainey, Will Roberts, Charles Russell, and John Marks.”
