Betty June Rue, 79, of McDonald, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, January 6, 2020 due to heart failure. Betty was a member of Westwood Baptist Church, where she was active in her Sunday school class. She was a retired substitute school teacher and business owner of Brides by Betty. She loved traveling across the United States with her husband, fishing, vegetable gardening and flower gardening.

Betty was born June 18, 1940 to Claude E. and Bonnie (McCurry) Jenkins in Bradley County. After graduating from Bradley Central High School in 1959, she attended National School of Business.

In 1959, she met Jimmy Rue, and they married on October 10, 1964. They had two children, James Anthony (Tony) Rue and Marcella J. Greene.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude E. and Bonnie (McCurry) Jenkins and brothers and sisters, Edward Jenkins, Harold Jenkins, Veneda Earnest and Robbie Earnest.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband and best friend of 55 years, James M. Rue, of McDonald; children, James Anthony (Tony) Rue of McDonald and Marcella J. Greene and husband, Danny, of Knoxville; sisters, Tommie Vincent and husband, Raymond, of Cleveland and Muriel Womac and husband, Larry, of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Westwood Baptist Church with the Pastor Steve Smartt and Pastor Nolan Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Johnston Cemetery with Larry Smith, Lewis Kearney, Ken Basquez, Kenneth Roark, Dale Davis, Steve Earnest, David Earnest and Larry McNabb serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Finnell/Kearney Sunday school class.
