Elizabeth L. "Dolly" Abbott, 89, formerly of Rhodes Mere and South Second Street, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 8, 1997, at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village. She .was born Nov. 6, 1907, in York, a daughter of the late William and Edith F. (Gemmill) Gemmill. Her husband, Richard S. Abbott Sr., died in 1968. Mrs. Abbott was employed for many years as a secretary in the principal's office at Lewisburg High School, retiring in 1969. She was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisburg. She was also a member of the Union County Sportsman's Club, Weikert. Mrs. Abbott enjoyed attending Penn State football games. Surviving are one grandson, Richard S Abbott of Glide, Ore.; one granddaughter, Susan Abbott Christie of Lamoine, Maine; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Richard S. Jr, 1973; three brothers and one sister. The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Gary H. Cronrath Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, by the Rev. Scott Zimmerer. Burial will be in Orchard Hills Mausoleum, Shamokin Dam. Visitors may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
