Cody McKay Ellis, 31, of Tulsa, formerly of Pampa, entered the gates of heaven on Friday, January 3, 2020 and is now walking the streets of gold he so often dreamed of. He was born on March 22, 1988 in Pampa to Justin Ellis and Linda McKay Ellis.

Cody had attended Pampa schools and graduated from Pampa High School in 2006. He had worked as a machinist for several years for both National Oilwell Varco and SWM and then as an apprentice for B & G Electric until moving to Tulsa with his best friend and younger brother, Dylan Ross Ellis about six months ago. Cody loved all sports and enjoyed playing them in school, especially golf and basketball and even had somewhat of a man-crush on Michael Jordan for a bit; however, nothing compared to the love he had for his momma and Jesus. He had a harsh and troublesome testimony, but he wasn’t afraid to use his testimony as a tool to witness to his family, friends, strangers or anyone he could share with. His priority in life was to make sure everyone knew Jesus as their personal savior. Jesus, family and friends were his absolute world, he was an amazing son and the greatest big brother anyone could ever hope for. Cody was love, whether it be unconditional, always forgiving, never wavering, not giving up or spreading God’s word - he was so very much, it’s hard to express in words…he made the world a brighter place and he will be tremendously missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

Those who preceded Cody in death are his grandmother, Carolyn Sue Ellis McBride and grandfather, Kirk Ellis; great-grandparents, Jasper and Harriette McBride, Edward and Dorothy Gattis; great-grandmother, Alice Sharum; cousin, Molly Manning; very special cousin, JoAnn “JoJo” Morehart; uncle, Mike McBride and special friends, Rustin Horton and David Fatheree.

He has left behind to carry on his love of life, his father, Justin Ellis and wife Allison of Amarillo; his precious momma, Linda Ellis of Pampa; a son, Nathaniel Thomas Pearson and beloved best friend and mother to his son, Candace Elizabeth Kay Parks both of Pampa; best friend and baby brother, Dylan Ross Ellis and wife Jessica of Tulsa, OK; brother, Joshuah Ellis and wife Kim of Lubbock; sister, Sarah Ellis Simon and husband Zach of Amarillo; brothers, Shane Carnley, Ronnie Carnley, Jamie Carnley, Troy Carnley; sisters, Trish Gaudet, Tiffany Carnley McIntyre all of Louisiana; maternal grandparents, Tom McKay and wife JoAnn of Pampa; very special Uncle John and Aunt Rhonda Morehart of Pampa, Uncle Bobby and Aunt Leyla McKay of Broken Arrow, OK, Aunt Linda Heath of Childress, special Aunt Jenene Alvarado of Sand Springs, OK, Aunt Shirley and Uncle Dewey Hutchinson of Pampa, Uncle Steve and Aunt Erin Ellis of Kansas, Aunt Julie Ellis of Norman, OK; Great-Aunts, Jean McBride, Mary Mayhew, Patty McBride; Great-Uncle John McBride; best friend and cousin, Ricky Morehart and wife Ashley of Wylie, TX, special friend, Danielle Savoir Caballero; special nephew, Rosstyn Truitt Ellis-Savoir both of Pampa; cousin, Ethan Hutchinson and wife Monica of Pampa and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life Memorial service at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2020 at First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Ed Sattesahn officiating. The family has entrusted the cremation care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.

Should memorials be your preference, the family suggests they be made to the First Assembly of God Church, P.O. Box 1020, 500 S. Cuyler Street, Pampa, TX 79065 in honor of Cody.

The family wishes to thank Dylan Ross Ellis, Nathaniel Thomas Pearson, Dylan Cain, Ricky Morehart, Shane Goldsmith, Ryan McMinn, Darrell Willis, Omar Kirklin and Christian Barraza for celebrating Cody with us as honorary pallbearers.

To Cody’s longtime friends, Shane and Ryan Goldsmith, Dylan and Kenzie Cain and Ryan McMinn, we cannot thank you enough for the unconditional love and support you have shown him and always stuck by his side, even through our tragic loss, you still support him as well as his family.
