Dr. Stephen Cyril Adkinson, 67, died Saturday, January 4, 2020 at The Pearl of Fort Mill, SC. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM in the fellowship hall of Bethel United Methodist Church in Chester, South Carolina. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Burgess officiating. The interment will be private.
Born March 8, 1952 in Charleston, SC, Dr. Adkinson was son of the late Wallace Cyril and Emmie Taylor Adkinson. He was a graduate of Garrett High School in Charleston, SC and Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA and also Medical University of SC in Charleston, SC. Steve was a structural engineer and later was former owner and operator of Chester Dental Care. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Steve was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed running and was able to run the 10K over the “Cooper River” bridge for as long as he was able.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Laudi Afkhami Adkinson; two sons, Julian M. Adkinson and Luciuis G. Adkinson both of Rock Hill, SC; one daughter, Madeline G. Adkinson of Columbia, SC; one sister, Gayle Adkinson Smith (Frederick) of North Charleston, SC and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wallace William Adkinson.
