According to A Biographical History of Waterloo Township and Other Townships of the County (Ezra Eby, 1895), John Brubacher "went to the Canadian North West and settled at Moosejaw, Manitoba [sic], where he took up land and [was] engaged in farming. The sad intelligence was received by Mr. S. Brubacher, 17 Irvin street, on Wednesday evening of the death of his brother, Mr. John M. Brubacher, which took place earlier in the day near Moosejaw, Sask., where he was engaged in farming. No particulars as to the cause of death were received. The deceased was a son of the late Henry Brubacher and was born on Brubacher homestead, in the East Ward. He was in his 47th year and was unmarried. The remains will be brought to Berlin for burial.
