Derek M. Oldfather, age 51, of Shakopee, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at his home. Derek was born on May 20, 1965 in Minneapolis, the son of Morris and Kathryn (Ness) Oldfather. He married Vicki Lloyd on October 10, 1987 in Amboy, MN.
Derek enjoyed reading, woodworking and computers. He also loved spending time with his dogs. Derek is survived by his loving wife, parents, brother, niece, nephew, mother-in-law, brothers-in-law, and yellow labs, Abbey and Bella. He is preceded in death by his father-in-law, James Lloyd; and grandparents, Kenneth and Jean Ness.
Visitation will be Friday, September 2 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. both at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 2488 Vierling Dr. East, Shakopee. Officiating is Pastor Brett Boe. Private family interment at Jackson Lake Cemetery, Amboy, MN.
