Ms. Tipton was the first Federal Probation Officer with the United States Government in Washington, D.C. for 25 years.

She was a longtime member of the Universalist National Memorial Church in Washington, D.C.

She enjoyed reading and traveling.

She was a graduate of George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

She was daughter of the late Charles William Thompson and the late Virginia Pfeiffer Thompson.

She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Ben and Karl Thompson, and one sister, Jane Lescault.

She is survived by her former husband, Clarence Tipton of Mt. Vernon, VA, one son, Timothy C. Tipton of Bethesda, MD, one daughter, Karla J. Costello of White Plains, MD,

As well as two grandchildren, Matt and Adam Costello, one great-grandchild, Justin Costello, two nieces, and two nephews.

A Service & Interment will be at a later date in Pennsylvania.
