Rita Jean Hollingsworth, 90, of Blooming Grove, Texas, died on January 6, 2020, at Twilight Nursing Home in Corsicana. Burial will be at Dresden Cemetery.

Rita was born on December 28, 1929, in Frost, Texas, to the late Samuel Gardner Moore, Sr. and Martha Payne Moore. She was a 1947 graduate of Frost High School. Rita attended Navarro College and was a member of the “Barracks Bunch.” She graduated from East Texas State University in 1951 and earned a Master’s degree from Texas Women’s University. She started her 25 years of teaching in Frost and taught in Monahans and Lancaster, Texas, prior to retiring in 1986. On July 3, 1954, she married Bobby Gene Hollingsworth.

Rita was active in Blooming Grove United Methodist Church and formerly FUMC of Lancaster, TX. She was also an active member of the Young at Heart Club and Historical Society of Blooming Grove.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Hollingsworth; son, Paul Gary Hollingsworth; and siblings: Ruben (Jack) Moore, Robert (Mike) Moore, Reba Moore Thompson, Rozene Moore Shadix, Ralph Moore, Samuel Gardner Moore, Jr., and William Ray Moore.

Survivors include her daughter, Martha Jenkins and her husband, Jeff, of Blooming Grove, TX; grandchildren, Mandy and John Norwood of Houston, TX, Cody and Bristi Jenkins of Suwanee, GA, and Amy and Jonathan Alvis of Spring, TX; great-grandchildren Aikan, Ainslee, Blaiklee and Cainan Jenkins of Suwanee, GA, Sloane Alvis of Spring, TX and Jack and Eli Norwood of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Clara Hollingsworth of Midlothian, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
