DELHI - James T. Aitken, 81, died at home in Delhi, Monday, Jan. 22, 2001.
He was born Feb. 27. 1919, in Delhi, the son of James and Isabelle (Robertson) Aitken.
He was married to the late Gertrude Gabrielson Aug. 12, 1949. She passed away March 15, 1985.
A veteran of World War 11, Mr. Aitken was a resident of Andes until 1972, when he moved to Delhi. He was a farmer in Andes and owned and operated the Andes Grocery Store, later he worked in heavy equipment construction on Route I-88 and drove a bus for Delaware County, BOCES and 4-H.
Two daughters, Gail Krone, Jersey City, N.J., and Margaret Miglanti, Delhi; two sons, James J. Aitken, Delhi, and William H. Aitken, Syracuse; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson as well as several nieces and nephews survive.
A sister, Margaret Whitaker, predeceased him.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi, with the Rev. Arvid Whitmore officiating. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring at Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
