Judy was born in Sioux City, Iowa on June 25, to Francis Matthew Schrunk and Iola Fern (McClintock) Schrunk. Judy had a wonderful childhood growing up in small town Iowa with her one sibling, Jerry. She graduated from Anthon, Iowa and went to secretarial school in Omaha. She married and moved to Kansas City and raised four children on a small exotic animal farm. In the early 80’s, Judy and her husband Chuck opened ‘Chuck’s Boots’ and grew the business to 8 stores. Judy was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and had lifelong friendships. She loved to travel and visited Africa, New Zealand and Key West, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Judy is survived by her son Max Day of Oak Grove, Missouri; her daughters, Suzanne Pearce of Lone Jack, Missouri, Cynthia Day of Oak Grove, Missouri and Christie (Dale) Crane; her four grandchildren, Tanner Crane, Rylie Crane, Alexandra Pearce and Amie Pearce; and her brother Jerry Schrunk of Show Low, Arizona.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am followed by a Memorial Reception at 11:00am on Friday, January 10 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Inurnment will be in the Garden Walk of Memory in Mount Moriah Cemetery South.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in Judy’s name to the American Stroke Association, 300 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 1200, Chicago, IL 60606, www.stroke.org.
