NEW CASTLE, Ind.--Hagerstown-area native Paul S. Bowman, 85, of New Castle, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Henry County Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
He was born Feb. 29, 1916, near Hagerstown to Benjamin F. and Mary E. Sherry Bowman. The Hagerstown High School graduate worked at Chrysler Corp. for 38 years until his retirement in 1975. He was a lifelong member of the Nettle Creek Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed shuffleboard, travel and basketball.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane Stone of McPherson, Kan., and June Kendrick of New Castle; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Lucille Fouts Bowman, in 1990; and a brother, Sherry Bowman.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at the Nettle Creek Church of the Brethren, 5761 N. Brick Church Road, Hagerstown. The Rev. Ann Bach and the Rev. Carol Pfeiffer have been asked to officiate. Burial will be at Brick Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, 3405 S. Memorial Drive, New Castle, and from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the church.
