Donald was "Killed In Action" in the Kontum Province, Vietnam while serving with the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart.

Donald is honored on Panel 38E, Row 48 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Washington, D.C.
