Martha K. Newell, 95,of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2020 with her family by her side. Martha was born in 1924 to the late Matthew and Lillian Gabruk. She attended East Syracuse High School and graduated with honors and a scholarship for business school. Martha loved her office work and had a great knack for detail and organization. She then went on to meet the love of her life John P. Newell and raise four daughters. Martha found such happiness in tending to the home they had built and working around the yard. A devoted wife and loving mother, she was always there when needed. She loved her family very much. Martha was a devout catholic who loved and cherished her church, St. Matthew's. Martha retired from East Syracuse Chevrolet Truck Shop, where she always gave 110 percent and took pride in all she did. She was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband, John P. Newell, her brothers, Frank Gabruk, Matthew Gabruk and sister, Pauline Bacon.

Martha is survived by her daugheters, Brenda Cwirko (Mike), Peggy Charette (Leo), Jackie Atanasio and Pat Bassett; grandchildren, Kristen Cwirko (Bill), Jonathan Cwirko (Meg), Jeffrey Cwirko (Alayna), Kim Uzunoff (Mel), Colleen Stonecipher (Dan), Jason Washo (Bethany) and Dan Bassett (Jill); great grandchildren, Noah Samphier, Troy Golden, TJ Stonecipher, Michael Uzunoff, James Washo and Jesse Washo.

We would like to thank the Grand at Chittenango for all the care and compassion they showed Martha.
