Ricky Mason Lewis

RAYNE, LA — Ricky Mason Lewis, 61, died peacefully Monday, January 6, 2020 at this home in Rayne, LA. He was exactly one month away from his 62nd birthday, when he planned to retire and live the good life in the South fishing and cooking.

Born February 6, 1958, in Tyler, Texas, Ricky was the youngest son of Louise and Eldred Lewis. He grew up in Tyler and graduated from John Tyler High School in 1976. In his younger years, he had a love for dirt track racing. His daughters have fond memories of him taking them to the track to watch his friends race. There, he spent many hours in the pits and learned how to work on cars. He enjoyed helping. He spent most of his career as a truck driver with George Wholesale.
Ricky loved to fish, hunt, and was a wonderful cook. He especially loved to grill and cook seafood. He also had a love for the many animals he and Brenda cared for at their home. He moved to Rayne, Louisiana, in 2013, and loved calling himself a Cajun. He resided the rest of his days with his loving wife, Brenda.

Ricky was preceded in death by his father, Eldred Bass Lewis; mother, Louise Gwin Lewis; and brother, Ronald Lewis.

He is survived by his wife Brenda Turner Lewis of Rayne; three daughters and sons-in-law, Courtney and Ben Klepfer, of Bullard, Texas, Elizabeth and Chris Mitchell of Kilgore, Texas, and Niki and Ronnie Whatley of New London, Texas; one step-son, Nelson Turner of Rayne; one nephew, Shane Lewis of Springfield, Missouri; and seven grandchildren, Dwight, McKenna, Brinley, Brookelyn, Blake, RJ and Rylen.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
