Funeral services for Betty Lou (Bennett) Copeland, 84, of Chickasha, will be held at the Grand Assembly of God Church.

Betty Lou (Bennett) Copeland was born April 5, 1935 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma to Thomas G. Bennett and Mary D. (Merritt) Bennett. She died Tuesday, October 8, 2019 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Betty grew up and attended school in “Little Rush.” She married Etzell Copeland and to this union her three children Jim, Vinita and Ron were born.

Betty was a homemaker for many years as she raised her children. She then worked in jewelry sales and management at Zale’s in Chickasha and later Ardmore, then at Montgomery Ward in Ardmore.

She loved to travel and was constantly on the go. She went by “Mema”, was always there and gave her whole life to her family. Mema had a unique individual relationship with each of her grandchildren and made every one of them feel special, driving many miles and spending many hours invested in each one. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by both parents; husbands Fred Skidmore and Jesse Vansill; son Jim Copeland and her siblings.

Survivors include her daughter Vinita Gayhart of Oklahoma City; son Ron Copeland of Chickasha; daughter-in-law, Lauren Copeland of Elk Garden, West Virginia; grandchildren Trelynda and Doug Rogers, Tricia and Mark Ratley, Chris and Angie Gayhart, Jimmy Copeland, Jr., Ronnie and Jennifer Copeland, Chas and Nick Bush, Gary and Misty Copeland, Kevin Copeland, and Tiffeny and Casey Dodge; 19 great-grandchildren and 8 great great-grandchildren.

Interment will be held in Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
