Obituary for Susan Collins
Susie Collins passed away on July 16, 2018 after an extended battle with cancer. She was proud to be a 6th generation Texan who was born on November 30, 1949 to Jack and Billie Martin. Susie was predeceased in 1984 by the love of her life, Ross W. Collins whom she met in high school and married in 1969 while both were attending SFASU in Nacogdoches, Texas. Susie also attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO in 1968 as a freshman. Ross and Susie were blessed to be the parents of four children. The first two children, Todd and Ryan, were born while Ross and Susie were students at SFASU. Upon graduation, they moved to the Lake Highlands community in Dallas, Texas where the other two children, Katy and Kipp, were born. In 1990, Susie began a 26-year career with Texas Instruments as a paralegal in the Law Department. She spent the majority of that career as Subsidiary Administrator until her retirement in 2016. Susie is survived by her children Todd and Joelle Collins; Ryan and Emily Collins; Katy and husband Michael McDaniel; Kipp and Suzie Brown Collins; father, Jack Martin, brother-in-law Ron Williams; brother, Robert Martin and wife, Nancy; and sister-in-law Donna and husband Larry Gates. Survivors also include eight grandchildren and many loving friends and other relatives. Susie is preceded in death by husband, Ross W. Collins, mother, Billie Martin, and sister, Barbie Williams. The funeral service will be held at Restland Funeral Home on Saturday, July 21 at 2:30 P.M. with a reception to follow. Immediately following the reception, a graveside service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The American Cancer Society. Services for Mrs. Susan Collins have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243.
