Michael E. Lafferty, 74 of East Freetown died January 4, 2020 at home after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Margaret E. (Houghton) Lafferty.
Born and raised in the South end of New Bedford, son of the late Joseph B.C. and Marie Simonne (Robert) Lafferty, he lived in Dartmouth before moving to East Freetown 3 years ago.
He was formerly employed at Goodyear for many years.
Mr. Lafferty enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren, classic cars and driving his Corvette.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael E. Lafferty, II and his wife Kelly of East Freetown; a daughter, Megan Wakefield and her husband Russell of Dartmouth; a brother, Stephen Lafferty of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Barbara Parnell and Patricia Dreher, both of Dartmouth; 4 grandchildren, Cody and Emma Lafferty, Oliver and Ava Wakefield; many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Maureen Lafferty, Joseph Lafferty and Bruce Lafferty.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 9th at 10 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 8th from 5-8 PM.
