Her parents moved to California in 1941. Catherine attended John Muir Junior High and graduated from Manuel Arts High School where she met Wrenis S. Miles Sr., who she would soon marry. She matriculated to Los Angeles Trade Technical College and earned an Associate in Arts Degree.
She later was united in holy matrimony to Wrenis S. Miles Sr. To this union were born two sons; Wrenis Jr. and Anthony. Catherine's loving husband preceded her in death.
