Ellis Charles Martin Jr., 61, a native of Independence and a resident of Houma, passed away.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Marie Adams Martin of Houma; his father, Ellis Charles Martin Sr. of Houma; two sons, Ben Adams, and wife, Leslie, of Houma, and Ellis Charles Martin III and wife, Misha, of Tallahassee, Fla.; seven daughters, Nikki Adams and husband, Raylin, of Houma, LaTasha Adams and husband, Johnnie, of Baton Rouge, Charlene Brown and husband, Lawerance, of Tallahassee, Fla., Charlene Robinson and husband, Randy, Phlander Parker and husband, Williams, Shantle Bouvier, and husband, Rodney, and Daphne Ward and husband, Timothy, all of Houma; two brothers, Daniel W. Martin and wife, Susan, and Nathan Martin and wife, Sherry, of Houma; five sisters, Gladys Simmons, and husband, Joseph, Alice Taylor and husband, Clarence, Zellie Wallis, Joyce Bennett, all of Houma, and Emma Jean Martin of New Orleans; 22 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Adele Martin; one brother, Charles Sneeze; and his grandparents, Isaac and Eunice Clemmons, and Zewey and Annie M. Jackson Martin.
He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church and a retired truck driver.
