July 8, 1931 - January 3, 2020

Graveside services for Claudette (Polk) Jones will be held on January 4, 2020 at Jones Family Cemetery in Dry Prong under the direction of Kramer Funeral Home.

Claudette “Granny” Jones passed away on January 3, 2020 in her residence surrounded by her family. She was 88 years old.

Claudette was born on July 8, 1931 in Marthaville to Ira and Maggie Polk. She was one of six children and graduated from Boyce High School. She later attended Seminary Extension Courses through the Baptist Building and attended nursing school. Granny was known for her love of the Bible and her extensive knowledge of it. She was a faithful church member.

Throughout her life she served as a Sunday School teacher, WMU associational director, and was willing to serve in any way needed at any church she attended.

Granny Jones was also a proud homemaker and was known for her desire to make anybody and everybody feel welcome in her home. Whether it was praying with somebody, sitting on the porch and chatting, or fixing dinner for them, whoever entered Granny’s residence was bound to leave with a full heart, and oftentimes, a full stomach. She loved not only tending her house on the inside, but the outside as well. She had a green thumb when planting flowers and was an extensive gardener for as long as she was physically able.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Chester L. Jones, son Brad Jones, daughter-in-law Mary Ann Brunson, grandson Brandon Scott Jones, sisters Marie and Elsie, brothers Cecil, Jerry, and Larry, and her parents.

She is survived by her daughter Evangeline Breland and husband Mark of Dry Prong, son Chester Waybourn Jones and wife Kathy of Paragould, Arkansas, son-in-law J.C. Brunson of Prospect, grandchildren Tammy Seal and husband Robert of Prospect, Marleen Jones of Prospect, Misty Drennen and husband Justin, of Paragould, Arkansas, Maggie Bordelon and husband Heston of Dry Prong, Conor Breland of Dry Prong, Colby Breland wife Nicole of Pineville, Michayal Jones of Paragould, Arkansas, great-grandchildren Tyler Nevill of Prospect, Cassie Nevill of Prospect, Kassian Wilkins and husband Aaron of Paragrould, Arkansas, Karrington Johnson of Paragould Arkansas, Hadley Breland of Pineville, great-great grandchildren Sebastian and Kendall Wilkins of Paragrould, and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Mark Breland, Heston Bordelon, Robert Seal, Conor Breland, Colby Breland, and Tyler Nevill.
