Redding -- A memorial gathering for Sanford Gilliam, 52, of Redding will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at American Legion Post 746, 3297 Chestnut St. in Cottonwood. Mr. Gilliam died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, in Redding. He was born Nov. 26, 1952, in Kentfield. He was a service technician, a volunteer for Shasta County Search and Rescue and three-time president of California Kamloops. Survivors include brothers Tyrone Hemry of Columbus (actually Chillicothe), Ohio, Gary of Kent Wash., Derle of Cottonwood and Dana of Santa Margarita. Memorial contributions can be made to Shasta County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Jeep Posse, 1525 Court St., Redding, CA 96001; or donate blood in Sanford's name at Blood Source-North State, 1880 Park Marina Drive in Redding.
