Obituary for John Michael Brewster

John Michael "Mike" Brewster, 56, of Little Rock, born September 4, 1963 in Springfield, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, September 11, 2019. Mike was a member of Oak Forest United Methodist Church in Little Rock.

Mike was the youngest son of the late Richard Wilson Brewster, Sr. of McCarley, Mississippi and Sue Poland Brewster of Little Rock. In addition to both parents, he was also preceded in death by his oldest sister, Sandra Kay Hunt of Little Rock.

Mike is survived by his one and only daughter, Chloe SueAnna Brewster, a senior at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR; one brother, Richard Wilson Brewster, Jr. and his wife, Becky, of Bryant, AR; three sisters, Linda Sue Ivey and her husband, Jim, of Owensboro, KY, Sharon Ann “Sherry” Shaw of Little Rock, and Carol Lynn Campbell and her husband, Danny, of Calico Rock, AR; one brother-in-law, Jimmy Burl Hunt of Calico Rock (formerly Little Rock); one paternal uncle, William James “Jamie” Brewster and his wife, Geraldine, of McCarley, MS, one maternal aunt, Tolese Poland of Yukon, Oklahoma (formerly Forrest City, AR); and his supportive friends, caretakers, and housemates, Gary and Terri Shelton. Additionally, Mike leaves many first and second cousins, nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and -nephews, all of whom adored him. Their beloved “Uncle Mike” was legendary at picking, wrapping, and presenting the most awesome toys to his family’s little kids at Christmas and for birthdays.

Mike served a distinguished lifetime career in cable TV, traveling across the country for several years with a band of work “brothers”, finally retiring after 15 or so years as an Advanced Technician and Auditor with Comcast in Little Rock. He was considered an outstanding technician in his field, taking great pride in the quality of his work. He would stay on a work order until he knew the customer was satisfied. Knowing the industry so well, Mike was chosen to be on the winning team representing his Little Rock market in a national Comcast Trivia Contest.

Mike was a faithful and reliable relative and friend, offering unconditional love to everyone he encountered and hoping for the same in return. Godspeed and rest in peace Dad, Mike-y, Little Bro, and “Brew”, you will be missed!

An open visitation will be held Sunday, September 15 at 2:00 PM at Oak Forest United Methodist Church, 2415 Fair Park Blvd, Little Rock, immediately followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM. Reverend Jana Green will officiate with support from retired pastor, Reverend Mike Blanchard.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you consider supporting Chloe financially through a ‘GoFundMe’ campaign to help cover Mike’s final expenses.

Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501)224-2200. Mike’s online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
