Barbara Ann Bush, age 79 of Newton, passed away Monday evening, December 30, 2019 at her residence following an extended illness. Services for Barbara will be held at 11am on Friday, January 3, 2020 in the chapel at Family First Funeral Care. The family will receive friends from 5pm until 7pm Thursday evening at the funeral home. Barbara was born April 24, 1940 to the late William Obie and Margaret Young Aplin in Ozark, where she lived the early years of her life. For several years she lived in Newton before moving to Webb where she lived for many years. After becoming a widow, Barbara returned to Newton where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a former caregiver and was also a homemaker. Barbara was very involved in the Newton Senior Center and the Bread of Life Mission in Newton until her health would no longer permit. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and was very loyal to her four-legged friends, Rocky and Norma, who loved her very much. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James W. (Jim) Bush. Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Brett and Micki Besse of Newton and Mike and Sandra Besse of Webb; a brother and sister-in-law, Billy (Bill) and Sandra Aplin of Russellville.
