ED BERRY Former resident and business owner Ed Berry passed away December 28, 2016 in Atlanta, GA. Ed was born in Lufkin, TX on June 1, 1933. After graduating from SMU in Dallas, TX and service in the US Army, Ed began a long and successful career in advertising, also being very active in many civic and business organizations while in Dallas. Ed moved to Santa Fe in 1977 and opened The Shop-Antiques, Christmas and Candles. During his years in Santa Fe Ed served on many organizational boards that included: The Festival of the Arts, Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce, Santa Fe Cancer Society, Santa Fe Fiesta Council, NM State Police Academy, New Mexico Governor's Mansion Foundation, Friends of the Palace and City of Santa Fe Parking Committee. Ed founded The Taste of Santa Fe which benefitted many local charities. He was instrumental in organizing the Annual Santa Fe Plaza Christmas Lighting event. After retiring Ed moved from Santa Fe but his heart was always here. Ed is survived by his sister, Jean Berry Howell: Nephew Bobby Howell and wife Judy; Niece Betsy Howell Horton and husband Michael; Niece Nancy Howell Barlar and husband Kris. Great Nieces and Nephews: Travis Howell, Sarah Howell, Ryan Horton, Megan Horton, Haley Barlar and Robert Barlar. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be planned at a later date.
