Mrs. Bertha Beckner, better known to her Stamford friends as Miss Bertha Shirmer, died in Clayton, N.M. January 23. She was buried at Clayton January 25.
Surviving: her husband - Luther Beckner; one son and one daughter; her father - August Shirmer of Kansas City; mother - Mrs. Emma Shirmer of Stamford; sister - Mrs. Myrtie Morrison of San Angelo; brothers - George Shirmer of Kansas City; Luther Shirmer of Fayetteville, Ark.
Mrs. Beckner was born in Missouri, December 27, 1890. She moved to Texas with her parents and located in Stamford when she was eight years old. At the age of 18 she married Mr. Beckner and the young couple went to make their home in Clayton, N.M., where they were engaged in farming and truck raising. She joined the Baptist church at the age of 15 and was a member until the time of her death.
