Gwendolyn Maurine Ihrie Williams, entered into rest January 1, 2020. She was born in Buchanan, Michigan to Maurice L. Ihrie and Myra M. Smith Ihrie on February 16, 1925. The family moved to Bradenton, Florida in 1938 where Gwen graduated from Bradenton High School in 1942. After high school World War II took her to Washington, DC and Civil Service with the Navy Department. The Department moved to Cleveland, Ohio in which Gwen decided to move back to Bradenton and worked at the Bradenton-Sarasota Army Air Base. There she met her husband, William T. Williams of Bradenton while he was on leave during his service with the Air Force. They married in 1945 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After a brief time in Tampa at MacDill Air Force Base and retiring from the Air Force they moved their family to Mt. Prospect, Illinois. In 1966 they moved back to Bradenton where Gwen retired from the Manatee Planning Department as Graphic Supervisor in 1990. Gwen and Bill enjoyed traveling in their motor home and meeting new friends. After moving several more times, Palmetto, FL, Keystone Heights, FL Crawfordville, FL and finally Lakeland, FL where Bill preceded her in death in 2013 after 68 years of marriage. She leaves behind three children Brian T. (Patricia) Williams of Palmetto, Tana L. (David) Oglesby of Tallahassee, Trudy L. (Richard) Miller of Bradenton; five grandchildren Beau (Andrea) Williams of Tampa, Lacey Williams Stovall of Palmetto, Bruce (Tori) Oglesby and Brad (Sarah) Oglesby all of Tallahassee; William Eklund of Bradenton; eleven great-grandchildren and her dear cat Dennis.
