He was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Warren County, son of the late Joseph B. and Etta Moody Alford.
Surviving: wife, Ora Lee Pendergrass Alford; daughters, Teresa Laura Alford Petway of Enfield, Kathy Louise Alford Smith of Red Oak; sons, Francis Arthur Alford Jr. of Red Oak, Joseph Eugene Alford of Whitakers, David Wayne Alford of Castalia; 12 grandchildren; sisters, Julia A. Robertson of Warrenton, Lois M. Morgan of South Hill, Va., Sally Ann Johnson of Tarboro; brothers, Clyde E. Alford of Youngsville, Griffin Alford of South Hill, Va., Kenneth Alford of Nashville, Lawrence Alford of Richmond, Va., Ray Alford of Philadelphia, Pa., Henry Alford of Greer, S.C.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home, Nashville Chapel, with the Rev. John Alford and the Rev. Dorothy Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park….
