On Tuesday, December 31, 2019, the Lord sent His angels down to bring another soul to their heavenly home. Rosemary Evans Williams quietly took her last breath at Lexington Medical Center. Born December 7, 1941, in Columbia, South Carolina, she was the oldest of six children born to the late George and Josephine Thompson Evans.

Educated in Richland County public schools, she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in the Class of 1959. She furthered her education and earned an Associate’s degree in Nursing from Midlands Technical College in 1990. She graduated as a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the National Dean’s List. She was employed by the State of South Carolina as a Nurse Supervisor at Midlands Center before retirement.

Affectionately known as “Peaches,” Rosemary was active in the Taylors Community where she met her lifelong sweetheart, Elijah Williams, while he was playing baseball. After Elijah enlisted in the United States Army, the two married December 23, 1959, in Columbia, South Carolina. To this union, two children: Andrea Rene Williams and Terence George Williams, were born. A lifelong member of Second Union Baptist Church, Rosemary was active with the Women’s Ministry and the Pastor’s Aid Ministry.

Rosemary was adventurous and loved to travel, especially on cruise ships. She traveled extensively in Europe and was able to vacation in Hawaii and Alaska, two states she always wanted to visit.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Patricia Jones.

She leaves to cherish precious memories her beloved husband of sixty years, Elijah Williams: two children: Lt. Col. (RET.) Andrea Williams and Terence George (Jill) Williams; six grandchildren: Devin T. Williams, Braylin A. Williams, Justin T. Williams, Avery T. Williams, Whitney Hodge, and Allen Brady Tidwell; one great-grandson, Waylon Hodge; one brother, Anthony (Mildred) Evans; three sisters: Jessie (James) Johnson-Sockwell, Joann (English) James, and Juanita Stevenson; a host of other relatives and friends.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Rosemary Evans Williams be made to Second Union Baptist Church 1168 Andrews Road Columbia, South Carolina 29
