Donald Luverne Bentley was born on June 9, 1926 in Charles City, Iowa, in Floyd County, to John and Hildegard Bentley and was their only child.

Donald was married on June 4, 1987 to his wife of almost 30 years, Myra (Kuznia) Bentley in Thief River Falls, MN. Together they made their home in Thief River Falls, MN, and were active members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Upon retirement years they moved to Fosston, MN.

Donald served in the military. He enlisted for active duty in the United States Air Force on November 7, 1946 at Fort Snelling, MN. After seven years of serving as a Basic Airman with the 637th Squadron of Othello, Washington, Donald was honorably discharged on June 23, 1954 at Geiger Field, Spokane, Washington. Donald enjoyed talking about the time he spent overseas and served in England.

Upon his retirement years, after working as a custodian and groundskeeper for Mesa College in Grand Junction, Colorado and moving back to Minnesota to be married to Myra, he enjoyed a very humble life. He loved to read, do yard work and garden, tinker on fixing things in his garage and woodworking projects - as he loved to build things.

Donald will be remembered as a very devoted husband, step-father – as he did not have children of his own, and a man that loved his pets. He was very sociable and loving to everyone he met.

Donald is survived by his wife, Myra Bentley of Fosston, MN and his step-daughter, Jill Lindholm of Bemidji, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents.
