Bobby Joe McManus age 76 of Surginer, AL died January 2, 2020 at his home. He was born September 22, 1943 in Mobile, AL to Bennie Hawood and Margaret Elva McManus. He was a retired boilermaker/millwright for Weyerhaeuser. He was a member of First Baptist Church Grand Bay, AL. and master mason with St. Albans Lodge #22 F&AM. Bobby donated the land and was one of the founding members of Surginer Volunteer Fire Department. He was past president of the maintenance union at Weyerhaeuser. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Dean McManus, son, Bobby Joe McManus, Jr. (Donna Jean), brother, Phillip McManus (Joyce), sister, Joanne Alexander (Emmett), eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Todd McManus, his parents, Bennie Hawood and Margaret Elva McManus, and sister, Carolyn Moore.

Visitation will be held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Monday, January 6, 2020 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
