Bobby Dean Hood, 74 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Thursday, January 2nd, 2020 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Bobby was born in Elrod, Kentucky on February 9th, 1945, son of the late Alonzo "Lonzo" and Alma Cleo Bullock Hood. Bobby was of the Baptist faith, and loved golfing, bowling and had a three hundred score perfect game. He loved racing, and he loved his dogs, "Ragu" and "Jethro". Bobby was United States Army and National Guard Veteran, where he proudly served his country in Vietnam.
Bobby was survived by his wife, Deborah Anderson Hood; two sons, Chan (and Vicky) Hood and Shannon (and Shelia) Hood; one daughter, Sonya (and Mike) King; two sisters, Anna Harper and Velma Payne; one step-son, Scott Sidwell; three grandchildren, Madison King, Alex Hood, and Bryan Hood; one great-grandchild, Kaleb Grey Boyd; two special friends, Richard Sage and Judy Todd; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Lonzo Hood, who departed this life on April 12th, 1995 and Alma Hood, who departed this life on December 31st, 1997; two brothers, Lanceford "Lance"Hood, who departed this life on November 28th, 2007 and Lester Bill Hood, who departed this life on March 28th, 2006; four sisters, Grace Lee Russell, who departed this life on July 21st, 1954, Georgia Anna Christina Russell, who departed this life on May 16th, 2004, Wanda Beulah Vanhook, who departed this life on July 8th, 1999, and Doris Jean Ping, who departed this life on March 5th, 2014; and his special partner, Sue Francis Dykes, who departed this life on February 11th, 2008.
Visitations were held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5th, 2020 at the Southern Oaks Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5th, 2020 in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Dunbar and Bro. Bryan Sawyer officiating.
Burial followed in the Southern Oaks Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky.
