Ray Fields “Pepaw”, was a lifetime resident of Birmingham and Gardendale. Ray was married to Gail in 1953. They loved and raised four children who are now all Christian adults with beautiful families. Ray retired from AAA Cooper Transportation in 1998 to care for Gail during her illness and subsequent death. Ray was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Ray remained true to Gail and truly loved his family until his passing. Pepaw will be greatly missed.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lillie Fields, his loving wife Gail Elizabeth Fields, brother, John Fields and a sister, Margie Hallmark. He is survived by his sons, Michael Fields (Susan), Randall Fields and Paul Fields (Laurie); daughter, Darlene D. Clem (Charles “Bay”); Brothers, James (Pete) Fields, Terry Ross Fields; grandchildren, Charles Clem, Bradley Greer, Brandon Greer, Dallas Fields, Katherine (Katie) Fields, Emily Fields, Brittney Fields, Joshua Fields, and Caroline Fields; great grandchildren, Madi Greer, Emily Clem, Andrew Clem, Elianna Clem and Josie Greer; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

A visitation will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Friday, November 28th, 2014 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon followed by a graveside service in Oakwood Memorial Gardens at 12:30pm.

Sons Michael, Randall, and Paul carried their father and led the remaining pallbearers, grandsons Charles Clem, Bradley Greer, Brandon Greer, Joshua Fields, Dallas Fields, and nephews Mark Burr, Toney Burr, Terrell Fields, and Jason Fields, to his final resting place alongside Gail.
