Edward Riggs Wait

Edward Riggs Wait, a retired architect and descendant of an old Glens Falls family, of 22 Temple St., Boston, Mass., died Sunday, Aug. 14 at the age of 87. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday in Trinity Church, Boston. Interment will be at a later date, not yet decided, in Pine View Cemetery, Glens Falls.

Mr. Wait was born in Glens Falls on June 10, 1869, the son of William A. and Mary (Hopkins) Wait. His father was for many years cashier of the old Glens Falls National Bank.

He attended Glens Falls Academy and the Massachusetts Institute of Technoloy, from which he graduated in 1891. He designed the former Glens Falls Academy building, now unused, in Chester St.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Wait Acres, with whom he made his home; three sons, Philip E. Wait of Newton Center, Mass., Edward R. Wait, Jr., of Walpole, Mass., and William G. Wait of Wellesley, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and one brother, Arthur K. Wait, of Roanoke, Va. Mr. Wait's wife, the former Miss Mary Green of Glens Falls, died in 1947.
