Dorthy Jean Hargus, 78, of Jonben, died Friday, May 18, 2007, at her home following a sudden illness.
Born April 20, 1929, at Fireco, she was the daughter of the late Elliott Meadows and Ethel Meadows Meadows. Mrs. Hargus was a homemaker and a member of the Whitby Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Hargus, brothers, Frank and Danny Meadows; and an infant brother.
Surviving are her son, Thomas Meadows and wife, Faye, of Dickson, TN; daughters, Julie Hensley and husband, Donald, of Fireco, Mary Canterbury and husband, John, of Coal City, Carolyn Rollins and husband James, of Vemon, FL., Evelyn Lilly and husband, Ronald, of Jonben and Jean Kelly and husband, Berthel, of Whitby; brothers, Elliott Meadows Jr. and wife, Sue, of Sullivan and Bill Meadows and wife, Kay , of Plainville, CN; sisters, Ruth Ann Meadows of Fireco, Joan Barton and husband, Asher, of Fireco and Judy D' Angelo and husband, Kenneth, of Beckley; 20 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Gary Eskins officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
