Joyce was born on November 5, 1934, in Galva, Iowa, the daughter of John and Daisy (Hoops) Sorenson. Joyce spent portions of her childhood in Galva, Knoxville, Nevada, Iowa and the Los Angeles area in California. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1952.
Joyce found her perfect match in Marvin Dean Jensen, a man who admired and shared her incredible work ethic, sense of humor and big heart. The couple was married on April 26, 1953. Together they built a successful life on the farm, working side-by-side in all endeavors for 52 wonderful years.
Joyce was well-suited for life on the farm. She was an excellent mother and enjoyed raising kids there. She had a tremendous “can do” spirit and helped with absolutely everything she could. From working with the hogs to cooking legendary noontime meals for the field workers, she was an asset to daily operations.
Joyce was a devoted member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada where she enjoyed volunteering and participating in Bible study. In her spare time, she also liked gardening, bowling, scrapbooking, spending time with family and pets, and taking trips to the casino.
Joyce was remarkable in countless ways, but her greatest legacy is the compassion and kindness she shared with others. Joyce saw the good in everyone, and she would gladly and selflessly help any person or creature in need. She made everyone feel special. Joyce took special interest in all children, who naturally were very fond of her. She will be deeply missed.
