Mr Robert Yuill
It was with profound regret that the citizens of Carleton Place and the surrounding district learned of the sudden passing of Robert M. Yuill, at his home on McLaren avenue, Tuesday afternoon, Feb 19th about 3.30. Mr Yuill, who was one of the town's best known and highly esteemed residents, was in his 69th year. Mr Yuill had apparently, been in his ususal good health and only that morning went for his mail to the post office. Some time early in the afternoon he went to his room to rest and did not complain of being ill. Members of the household, thinking he was sleeping rather late went to his room and were shocked to find that he had passed away in his sleep as a result of a heart attack. A son to the late Robert Yuill and his wife, Agnes Taylor, he was born in the township of Ramsay where he lived and farmed on the farm owned by his grandfather, the late James Yuill. Retiring from the farm, Mr Yuill came to live in Carleton Place in March 1926, and continued to live here ever since. He was married to the former Miss Agnes E. Yuill, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Robert Yuill, who predeceased him on July 30, 1944. Mr Yuill was a devout and faithful member of Memorial Park United Church and was quite active in its work and serving for some years on the Board of Stewards. Surviving are one brother, Jas Yuill, of Mather, Man., and three sisters, Mrs A. Gilmour, Miss Isabel Yuill, and Miss Maude Yuill, all of Almonte, and one sister-in-law, Miss Margaret Yuill of Carleton Place, who made her home with her late sister and brother-in-law. The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon from Fleming Brothers' Funeral Home, lake Avenue West, to the Auld Kirk Cemetery for interment. Rev D.C. Munro, minister of Memorial Park Church, officiated at the service.
