Betty was the fourth child of George and Agnes Ayars. She graduated from Grandville High School in 1947. She married her high school sweetheart Gerald Vredevelt in November of 1949. Jerry and she had three children: Gerald, Leiloni, and Kirk. Betty was a devoted mother and wife. She loved home crafts and made thousands of Christmas ornaments at home. She was at the forefront of the Christmas bazaar movement in the 1970s. Betty died after a year long battle with cancer. She is interred beside her parents.
