She was born and raised in Arkansas, the youngest of six children.
She married the love of her life, the late Jack Morrison and they celebrated 71 years of marriage.
At nineteen, Joyce purchased a train ticket along with her brother (escort) Earl and they headed to Bridgeport, Connecticut where Jack and Joyce married. Shortly after their wedding day, Jack continued his military assignment overseas during WWII and Joyce returned to Littlerock, Arkansas where she had her first-born son, Jackie. Joyce then traveled to Richmond, California and resided with her parents during the rest of his military tour. After Jack’s tour of duty, the family lived in California where their second child, Linda, was born. They eventually resided in Rock Springs, Wyoming where their third child Kathy was born. Work would finally return them to California which became their permanent residence. Several years later, Joyce welcomed her youngest child, Greg.
During her time in California, Joyce lived in Richmond, Napa, Orangevale, Folsom, Citrus Heights, and Vacaville.
She is survived by children Jack (Shirlieanne), Linda, Kathy, Greg (Stacy). She was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.
The weekends were filled at their home in Napa with Joyce creating savory, home cooked meals, championship ping pong games, relaxing on the backyard swing, and catching up on the latest family news. The evening always ended with everyone sharing a piece of Joyce’s latest dessert masterpiece.
Holidays and time with grandchildren were always special to Joyce. Her holiday home was covered in garland and tinsel and the grandkids always knew grandma had cracker jacks tucked away in the pantry. Holidays also included celebrating with extended family and friends. The fun didn’t stop at the end of the event, as Joyce continued to share her holiday stories with other family members.
Throughout the years, Joyce and Jack spent much of their time in the stadium bleachers and sidelines watching their son and grandchildren play sports such as football, girls’ softball, drill team, and soccer. She could also be found decked out in red and gold cheering on the Niners in Rocklin and spending Friday nights at the Veterans hall yelling BINGO.
Joyce was a homemaker who enjoyed quartet singing, interior decorating, gardening, camping, traveling in their motor home, the S.F. 49ers, and cooking, especially her nut pies. She was loved by many and will forever be missed.
