Delena Ann Mills Smith, 88, of Covington, died Wednesday, April 20, 1994. Mrs.
Smith was born August 7, 1905 in Craig County, the daughter of the late Joseph
and Callie Huffman Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton P.
Smith in 1943; by her granddaughter, Beverly Taylor, in 1991; and also by one
sister and two brothers. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, with whom
she had made her home, Rosemary and Harvey Taylor; her son and daughter-in-law,
Leon P. and Ethel Smith, of Covington; three granddaughters, Mrs. Butch
(Rosalyn) Dalton of Charlottesville; Mrs. George (Roberta) Black of Summerville,
S.C., and Mrs. W. F. (Alicia) Carter of Covington; two grandsons, Leon P. Smith,
Jr. of Roanoke and James H. Taylor of Sweet Springs, WV. and six
great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 pm
in the First Christian Church at Covington with the Rev. Bill Gilliland
officiating. Interment will be made in the Paint Bank Community Cemetery. The
family suggests that donations in Mrs. Smith's name be made to the Memorial Fund
of First Christian Church, Covington. Arritt Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.
