She was the youngest of ten children and received her education in the public schools of Sumter County.
At an early age, Mrs. Budden accepted Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of Lagree A.M.E. Church. After marriage, she joined Enon Baptist Church, where she was a devoted church worker...committed tot eh Lord and her church obligations. She was president of the Deaconess Board for over seven years, a member of the Missionary Society and the Sunday School.
